Made with fresh tomatoes, red peppers, onions, black beans and chipotle chili peppers, Kavarna's Chipotle and Black Bean Chili is spicy and good.
This past weekend, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reported on the wi-fi phenomenon in Green Bay. We were immensely gratified that they chose to lead the article with us, your humble vegetarian coffeehouse.
Wi-Fi — short for wireless fidelity — is technology that lets people log onto the Internet without using a wired connection, similar to the way a cordless telephone works.
"We generally have a few laptops in here day and night," said Linda Galt, who with husband Alex is owner of Kavarna Café, 112 S. Broadway. The accessibility of Wi-Fi lures college students, out-of-towners and freelance writers, Galt said.
"We have the information on our Web site and have signs in the windows and let people know," Galt added.
Next door to Kavarna is Yikes! Salon, which is also Wi-Fi compatible.
We're also happy to see that many other Green Bay businesses have followed in our footsteps. When we began offering wi-fi, we were one of only a handful of local spots that did so. While it was nice to be on a very short list (that included the airport) for a year or so, it's even nicer to see that wi-fi is becoming the norm. Our friend and customer Dana VanDen Heuvel has a list of other businesses that offer this increasingly important service. Check it out.
Now we'd like to see an article on local businesses who are blogging and using RSS feeds. What are RSS feeds you ask? They're like news wires... we publish something and it goes out on a 'feed' that you can subscribe to. Info on how to proceed (you'll probably need to download a RSS News Reader) is here, and our up-to-the-minute Soup and Specials feed is here.
