Flavorful tomato soup, served cold! Just the thing for a hot, Summer day.
If you come into Kavarna today (and on any day through May 7th), you'll immediately notice the beautiful quilts along the long wall. These are the work of Margaret Gerhard, an artist and art educator. She's also responsible for the interesting rag dolls opposite the quilts. This is part of our new group exhibition of art made from recycled materials. Also featured are Amie Sell's assemblages, Colleen Labrosse's shrines, and Amy Lynn Davies' collages. Later on this evening we will also be installing a series of papier maché fish. All of the artwork on display has been made from materials that would otherwise have ended up in the landfill (or wherever worn cloth ends up), and I think we can be thankful that they're on our walls instead. I'll be taking some photos later on this evening and posting them.
