Our Future Neighbor, the New Green Bay Children's Museum

While we will be sad to move away from the Broadway community of businesses, we will have some new neighbors. The one that we're most excited about is the New Children's Museum of Green Bay. Having taken Johanna to both the Betty Brinn Children's Museum in Milwaukee and the Children's Museum in Appleton, we have some idea what to expect. Modern children's museums are paradises of educational and social fun. This institution will be an amazing addition to family life in Green Bay. However, they are still carrying out their fundraising campaign. So far, they have raised $1.9 million, but they still have 1.6 million to go. That's a lot of money to raise, especially since they will be breaking ground in March! They are also looking for volunteers. So, if you have time and/or money and you'd like to help a passionate group of people achieve a very worthy goal that will improve childhood in Green Bay, check out their website for more information.

August 16th, Jana Holland, 8 pm: Jana Holland is one of our favorite musicians (and customers!) to play at Kavarna from time to time. She's brings a lot of energy to the room with her well written and beautifully sung music. You can hear some of her music here.

August 30th, Jeanne Kuhns and Lynn Gudmundsen, 8 pm: Artist and Singer/Songwriter Jeanne Kuhns has recently released a brand new cd, and we're very happy to welcome her back to Kavarna. She'll be joined by violinist Lynn Gudmundsen. She's described on her website like this, "Jeanne Kuhns is a folk/blues singer, songwriter, and a passionate performer who conveys to her audiences her love of life, women's issues and nature. She has been influenced by folk, blues, and rock and these threads have been woven into her music. She carries her poetic lyrics to you with a voice that has a private, intimate quality, full and deep yet capable of sliding into a clear high falsetto. She breaches the topics of single motherhood, surviving abuse, and the beauty of the world around her with awe and humility and humor." Having seen her perform several times, I can only agree. She's an amazing singer, and I'm looking forward to seeing her with Lynn Gudmundsen! Evening begins at 8 pm.

September 20th, Bill and Riki Schulz
