Free Wireless Internet at Kavarna Kavarna is proud to provide free wireless internet via our friends at Green Bay Net. We offer this as a service to our customers because we believe that it adds value to the Kavarna experience. That said, there are several things that should be pointed out about this service: 1.) Kavarna's employees are not trained to do technical troubleshooting. 2.) Our experience of the past year is that if you are having trouble connecting, it's most likely a problem with your computer setup; though every once in awhile the wireless network needs to be reset. 3.) Yes, you are expected to buy something. Set-up Instructions for Windows XP Step 1: Insert or turn on your WIC (Wireless Interface Card) Step 2: Click on "Start," then right click on "Connect To" Step 3: Select "Open" Step 4: Double click on your WIC's connection icon Step 5: Select "Kavarna" Step 6: Click on "Allow me to connect to the selected wireless network, even though it is not secure." (That being said, beware that this is an open network, and probably not a good place to do any ecommerce.) Step 7: Click on "Connect" Set-up Instructions for Mac OS X In our experience, Apple computers seem to work more or less automatically, however, if you have trouble try this: Step 1: To configure the "Airport" software, select "System Preferences" from the "Apple" menu, then "Network" Step 2: From the "Show" field, select "Airport." Click the "Airport" tab. Step 3: Click on the "Join a specific network" radio button. Step 4: In the "Network" field, type "kavarna." This field is case sensitive, so it must be entered as it appears here. Leave the "Password" field blank. Step 5: Click "Apply Now" Step 6: Click on the "TCP/IP" tab and confirm that the "Configure" field is set to "Using DHCP." Hang On a Second... You're probably asking yourself, if I can't get online how am I meant to read these instructions? Well, it's a paradox. Fortunately, the same information is available printed out on a piece of paper behind the counter. Please feel free to ask to see it. Technical support is also available for a fee from Green Bay Net at (920) 437-GNET. |
